Morris Rosenbaum
Radom, Poland
My father, Morris Rosenbaum, was born in Radom, Poland in May 1908, the youngest of eleven children. He survived the ghetto, forced labor camps, and death camps, but lost his wife, two children, his mother and several sisters to the Nazis.
After liberation from Mauthausen, Morris went to the DP camp in Bad Ischl, Austria, where he and my mother married in October 1945. His brother Paul survived, and he and his wife Ruth came to Baltimore with my parents in 1947.
Life in the U.S. was not easy because of financial struggles and lingering health issues from his war experiences. But he and my mother provided for us and made our home a loving one. With my aunt, uncle and cousins living close by, we felt secure and connected with family.
